my oh my, bestivalwhat a splendid way to end the summer, it really is in the name, bestival = best festival? yep sirree this was my fave one so far. after attending many festivals this year, i had caught slight field / tent / portaloo phobia so arriving to the site on tuesday was a wee bit scary, would i survive the rest of the week? fortunately i did and my bestival time was awesome. the sun was out to play and so were the festie goers, they loved our glacau vitaminwater tipi and mystical wagon and you know what? we loved them too. our rainbow coloured family hula hooped away the days and glittered away the nights with the help of bitch and stitch, we never wanted it to end. personal highlights? 2manydjs with their donna summer toe tapping head bopper of a set, the magical bat for lashes and her cute super hero cape, major lazero.m.g girls on the stage bumpin n grindin (including tin foil wrapped girls from the crowd) and bass bass bass! lastly (but very not least) shouts to bristols very own appleblim for his 90 minute set of rumbling basslines which i thoroughly enjoyed until I got batted off my front row spot by 14 year old lairy tinchy stryder fans. i am already wondering what the theme will be for next year (i want to win those 2 bestival tickets every year for life) bestival, i miss you, until next time x
did you go to bestival? if so, what were your thoughts? best ever? what you going to do with yourself this weekend???

the forkless bike
wowwee…. now this is a cool bike! we’ve seen a lot of funky bikes in our time but we think this one has to be our favourite. what do you guys think? pretty crazy huh?
we know this isn’t strictly in the same taste as vitaminwater but we had to drop this fresh joint from subo. susan boyle unleashed her version of the rolling stones track ‘wild horses’ on america last night and there wasn’t a dry eye in the stable. let us know what you think of subo’s performance – did it live up to expectations?

is it just me or has this week just blown by, i know it’s only wednesday but hey. anyway, you guessed right, it’s time for another wednesday power-c[hart] where we delve into what’s racing up the charts this week. boy oh boy, it’s a goodun today, filled with enough variety to inject some strength into your saggy midweek muscles. have a listen and tell us if we’re wrong
but remember… we can see your feet tapping ![]()
mika – we are golden (jokers of the scene ‘are not who you think they are’ remix)
mini viva – left my heart in tokyo (acid girls remix)
the temper trap – sweet disposition (doorly’s dubstep remix)
shakira – she wolf (calvin harris remix)
jason mraz – it’s yours (voicedude’s jason mraz vs. shaggy ‘it wasn’t me mashup)
gutted i couldn’t find any bananarama remixes for you, they’re definately charting!
but as a special bonus here is a disco edit of their hit ‘venus’

its hard to believe that the summer madness is now a distant memory as summer seeps away.. and the next bank holiday is over the xmas period ( sigh). i do think, its fair to say that we all had a great time though.. whether you were at good times, rampage, or oi you! sound systems at the nottinghill carnival or even those lucky enough to go to burning man ..at reading festival wooed by mega bands radiohead and kings of leon.. or at sw4 and get loaded in the park- there was something for everyone! not forgotting the bestival just gone (such a simple but perfect name for a festival).
my tunes of the summer
nneka – heartbeat
donae’o- partyhard
k.i.g – heads shoulders knees and toes
if you can remember any festivals that happened at the beginning of the summer then post your memories below.
well done to everyone that entered it was very close and we liked adored all the entries. but just like in highlander…. there can be only one. so you, the people have spoken and have crowned audrey from frassy as the winner (cue applause), view her winning entry in its entirety here. so audrey will be whisked off to london fashion week!!! all the runners up will receive the vitaminwater packs.
but don’t despair as there is another competition on the way…. just check the top left of the site. and be sure to check back for a full report on the lfw!
hello you, i’m sure a lot of you reading this have not long been back from space, ugh… i mean bestival and i can see from your long face you had a bloody good time. we’d give you a hi-5 if it were possible via the internet but alas it’s not, but for starters lets get the feel good mood flowing, just follow these simple instructions:
- step 1: pat oneself on the back
- step 2: repeat step 1 until suitably satisfied
ahhhh…. that’s better. now lets get onto the soothing sounds of alex ridha aka boys noize. it’s been a while since we saw a tag team effort between alex and para one, but boy oh boy it’s a goodun. if this doesn’t refresh your face then i don’t know what will…. except maybe some old skool para one (think mstrkrft remix of dudun dun!!!!!). but lets not get caught up in the past, it’ll be the future in a few seconds so pick up your head, lighten your feet and show your boss who’s the ugh….. boss. yes.
+ futureproof yourself by downloading this boys noize mixtape
kapow! didn’t the week move swiftly. and with everyone being smug and trundling off to bestival i think you only owe it to yourself to have an amazing weekend. then when everyone comes back, with their stories of space, mud and lack of washing you can stand up proudly and say – ‘what’s a bestival?’ happy in the knowledge that you had a better time.
but you don’t have to be derren brown, creating the illusion that you had fun, just simply click play on this drop the lime minimix (in which he squeezes in a whopping 82 classic tunes in 5 minutes – wow) and fill the silence with bass. Seriously, if you haven’t heard this before then you’re going to love it. no joke, even mary poppins has a spoonful of bass to get her ready to look after the kids at the weekend.
if you like this then check out his latest tracks howling & tabac theme,
now go claim the weekend as yours!

the time is nigh, the moment is here, the entries are in and we’ve selected our favourite entries for our competition where one lucky person will win tickets to a premium london fashion week show and be crowned our official fashion diarist. it’s now up to you guys to decide who gets to go! Simply go to our voting page to get started. we’ll announce the winner on september 14th.
good luck to all the finalists!

1. what???s your nickname; after all, we???re all friends here?
hmmmm i used to get called ‘tick’ or ‘tick choong ting’, was all a bit of a piss take to be honest. more often than not it’s ‘that wee mad scot’ or gem.
2. now we???re bezzie mates, tell us something exclusive about yourself that most people don???t know.
right, were taking it deep are we. i’m actually crazy shy. anyone that just read that, i’m guessing just spat out their drink or maybe choked on their grub.
3. what question are you sick of being asked and why?
‘what do you do?’ it’s a such a london thing isn’t it. even when your out clubbing or whatever, you meet a stranger they always go in for the kill…’ hi i’m a douche bag, what do you do?’ if they are impressed they will hang around and chat, if not then your kicked to the curb.
note, okay they don’t ever say douche bag, but hey they may as well :p
4. who was the last person to send you a text/tweet/any other form of digital contact? and what we really wanna know is??? what did it say?
bbm message from my girl laura stevens ( charlatan | photographer), sorting out our ‘cake making’ and the reset showcase. nothing too exciting in the msg.
sorry i’m a private person, ain’t gonna do no ‘dirty’ on anyone. even if they do deserve it.
6. most of us like to not be nude in public, so what???s your favourite style secret for covering yourself in? (and have you ever been nude in public?)
i usually just wear what i feel comfortable in. nothing worse when you hate what your wearing. brings your self confidence down dramatically.
( yep i have, skinny dipping and…)
7. if you could work with anyone who would it be and why?
jack black i think. it would be nothing but jokes or tim burton, his mind and creativity always blows me away. think he would be one interesting fella to work with.
8. we all like to know our stuff, if you could be a connoisseur/guru/demi-god of something what would it be?
bloody good question. daaaaaaamn. fashion. style & direction. i don’t follow rules, i make my own.
9. i know it???s early days, but when you do eventually give up the game, what are you going to do in retirement? or are you going to be the new rolling stones?
wow, deep. gets you thinking…i don’t think i’m the type of person that could switch off. when i do i’ll be in the grave.
suppose when i’m all wrinkled, i’ll be at a point i can chill out more and travel. thats what i’m looking forward to doing.
10. who in your mind is the hottest talent that we should know about?
daaaamn so many, so many…
mr donald crunk. he’s my brother to another mother, an awesome journalist and has the most bizarre way of thinking.
charlatan & trapstar clothes ( sorry some serious plugging there) – brother & sister streetwear label that i co-run.
trinotron – menswear label
music wise, i’d say dj motive and martelo ( dj – santogold’s official dj). they are both doing a lot.
11. and finally, what are your ???famous last words????
toots or tootsie i seem to say those alot
