Tranqill – Deadly Wintaz from Haydn Davies on Vimeo.

tranqill is one of my favorite uk emcee’s. can’t really put my finger on what it is about him that makes me weak to the knees (apart from the fact that it’s pure hotness when people rhyme in british…) but I cant deny that he “makes the kind of raw, spontaneous, thrilling rap music that made us fall in love with those classic wu-tang records.” his ep “deadly wintaz” will officially be released on 15th march on one-handed music, however, you can have a cheeky listen below and download the tune “payroll” for free.

pixie lott

pixie may have lost out at the brit awards but she still has her spark! sorry we couldn’t resist the pun! pixie has been the lady about town the last few weeks with london fashion week and the brits, upping her style stakes immensely!

pixie is ahead of the game as bold colours are set to be a big trend this spring/summer. want to recreate her look? we have selected some statement bold dresses to keep you on trend this summer:

asos have a great range of bright and bold dresses, we particularly like this printed strapless dress

french connections wendy dress in fuchsia pink will make the boys wink!

Screen shot 2010-02-19 at 10.09.54.pngit’s that time of the week again, when we get the chance to show you some of the blogs that help inspire us.

this week that blog is fresh creation. it’s a website with a simple aim, to inspire and encourage fresh ideas in all areas of life. The content is video based, and tells stories from a variety of sources. One day there is a video of a tramp singing “creep”, while on another you get up close and personal with seth godin.
perhaps the most amazing thing about the site, is that it is run single-handedly by a dutch guy called martijn van osch, who got enjoyment out of searching for, making and sharing inspirational stories. his stories now grace sites such as digg, engadget, gizmodo and trendhunter, amongst others. you can follow them on twitter here.
so for those of you wanting a daily dose of inspiration, we really couldn’t recommend this site more.

it’s been the longest week in history. since the brit awards i
haven’t stopped. there’s been all the show, the baftas and let us not forget
the amazing fashion for relief event where i was alongside sarah brown, naomi
campbell and, er, ronnie corbett.

fortunately i had one night left in me. i was thrilled to accept an
invitation to pop along to see sadie frost’s new play where she stars alongside
former libertine carl barat. the play, sam shepherd’s fool for love, has had
mixed reviews to say the least but never trust a reviewer until you see things
with your own eyes. it’s not that bad at all. sadie’s great on stage and really
captivates you – and carl’s not bad for a musician starting out in an acting
world.

but it was a great opportunity to catch up with sadie about how her
label frost french is doing. and after a tricky few years it seems they are
getting back on top. she tells me: “we’re opening another store at the end
of the march at whiteley’s.

“it’s been a difficult few years with backers falling through
but things are finally looking up. at the end of the day we have a brand and we
have an opportunity to get things moving. we’ve got a bright future and a
possible big backer coming to us this year. it would be great to get things
into a big global brand but we have to keep things exclusive and smaller and
make sure we’re in control this time around. this time around it’s just jemima
(french) and me calling the shots.”

she also said she was feeling a little sad at missing all of the
london fashion week proceedings – and her bosom buddy kate moss’s fashion for
relief runway moment. “i missed kate on the catwalk,” she said.
“and all the parties. which is a shame. but i’ve been working every night
here. i’m loving the play and loving working hard on my acting. i’m very
focused.” i don’t doubt her!

anyway, my night out with miss frost ends a week of non stop
partying. here’s my awards for moments of the week….

best colourful collection: issa – and great celebrity guests
including princess bea in the front row.

best moment: this is easy – kate moss walking the catwalk for ffr.

funniest comment: pixie geldof telling me that her dad bob wasn’t
asleep when he had his head hanging down in the front row of ffr when sarah
brown made her speech. she said: “he does that to concentrate.”

try hard: geri halliwell tried so hard to steal the show at ffr -
but failed.

most promising: leona lewis – she’s ready to start pushing some
fashion boundaries. hurrah. so long dame viv. hello william tempest.

best party: without a doubt alice temperley’s bash at selfridges was
the winner. trinny woodall, slash, courtney love and me were invited into the
temperley wonderland. amazing.

so finally – it’s been great keeping you in the celebrity loop! keep
supping up those vitaminwaters. laters. mwah.

the tents are being dismantled, the clothes are being packed up, the
models are off to milan and the designers are finally going to get a full
night’s sleep: london fashion week is over.

yesterday was the day of menswear shows
and presentations (a relatively new thing for london, as most mens collections
get shown in paris and milan menswear weeks). in the exhausted state i was in
(and feeling the need to get back to the real world and do normal things like
cook a meal and send an email), i only managed to catch one show – orschel-read. the designer, stefan, is
a friend of mine from way back when i started my night circus, and i’m dead
proud of his achievements. he loves a sharp tailored aesthetic, but i noticed a
bit of casual influence in there with a hoodie and track-pants. the hair
was influenced
by warriors
– scraped backed, pinned, wrapped and with bits and bobs sewn
on – this is probably the most interesting hair concept i’ve seen on the runway
this season, everyone else has disappointed in that department. my colour
moment was the rich burgundy that featured throughout the collection.

it’s been a great week for original design – london really is a
melting pot of design talent and the coolest city to party in. i need about six
months rest now….which in actual fact is perfect timing for the next
round!

so long readers, thanks for logging in, and see you next
season.

did you watch it? what do you think? we’re you like me and expected the 7 funny looking guys with joker painted faces to tank just like the infamous ken lee from the bulgarian idol?

a terrible performance seemed even more imminent when the taylor swift song came on! however, they somehow turned it around to a very entertaining crowd pleasing act. youtube certainly seems to agree with the crowd, as this video is spreading like wildfire since it’s release yesterday. there is something about these ‘hello world’ guys that is almost a a jedward meets subo!

so what is it that makes us want to share a video like this? is it the originality of the performance? or the cleverly edited video sequence? or is it even the emergence of 7 supremely talented boys from the philipines destined to be the next jackson 5!?!

what’s your name
and where do you come from? (cilla style)

sofi / sofi donuts / sofi vitaminwater.
well, i come from the cornwall (the beautiful part of cornwall where all the
beaches are) but i’ve lived in bristol for 7 years, the home of massive attack
and the best parties around.

describe yourself
in 3 words

small, colourful, getsh*tdone.

who
else is on the your team?

terry turbo – she is little + fierce! don’t
mess!

andy – he loves lily allen (and all the
ladies for that matter)

dejay – singer / musician extraordinaire
from the us of a

tell us something that no one else knows
about you?

i’m addicted to pasta, i get withdrawal
symptoms if i don’t eat it…but i’m pretty sure that some people already know
this. if i could eat 3 meals of pasta a day, i would.

what do you love
about spreading the glaceau love?

travelling, meeting new people, spending
the summer in the sun at festivals and events. plus, it’s always nice to give
people a little cheer in the form of a complimentary bottle of vitaminwater.
must admit I spend a lot of my time setting myself challenges…i always need
something big to work towards. it’s fun conquering the nation! this is weird
but I actually like spreadsheets…makes me feel organised (need one of those I
heart spreadsheet mugs, any buyers?)

what’s your favourite saying/team motto?

we don’t really have one, though did call
ourselves ‘team apprentice’ for a while, we were at an event and there was a
lot of planning / team talk going on…it was like we were on the apprentice (but
we are way better than anyone on that show, of course). sometimes i call um
team turbo, but that was sooo last year.

what
flavour would you be for a day and why
?

spark! no contest! spark helps me get
motivated in the morning if I’m tired and need to focus, it’s also the
brightest of the bunch and the most energetic. focus is nice cos it’s in a
pretty bottle (neon pink) and tastes delicious (strawberry and kiwi)…but we don’t
have it right now.

where’s your favourite place to spread the glaceau love?

festivals! when people are dying of thirst
in the sun and we give them a bottle of vitaminwater, their lovely little
cherub faces light up! our area’s at festies are obviously the place to be…bestival
being an especially good one, we had tipis, a gypsy wagon and bitch n stitch
giving people fantastical glitter makeovers (and inflatable dolls dressed as
wizards…magical).

and one more for luck…. if you were an animal what would you be and why?

i’d always thought i’d quite like to be a
horse (probably a pony cos I’m small). they are powerful, they live outside and
can run away from people if they don’t wanna be caught…they can jump super
high, rich people have them, they get nice stables to live in and coats for the
winter…they get pampered and dressed up for shows and actually if they got paid
for all the work they did, they would probably be super well off (olympics,
showjumping, racing etc). plus, they are pretty hard…I wouldn’t be messing with
a horse.

as you may have heard, kristen has been buzzing around the london circuit for the past few  weeks, casually picking up bafta and elle style awards. her elle award is especially significant, as not many 19 year olds can claim to have received a woman of the year award from elle!
she was also been snapped at some london fashion week shows, and was seated next to mary-kate olsen and kate hudson at the burberry show yesterday. one thing she is not doing though, is talking about her much-rumoured relationship with robert pattinson
if you are a kstew fan, you may want to check out the trailer for her upcoming movie, the runaways. we think she makes a pretty believable joan jett, the images are all here if you want to have a peek! the movie centres on joan’s first band, the runaways. so while most people link her to joan jett and the blackhearts (i love rock n roll), this was the band that started it all, and made major headway for woman in rock.

fashion week is coming to an end and i really wish this rainy wet weather would come to an end as well so we can start wearing our spring & summer wear. unfortunately, spring seems like a distant dream on a day like this, so i have come up with a perfect solution! i stumbled across this great eclectic mix made by the bombay bicycle club for diesel:u music which not only is a fab listen, but it can also be used as a soundtrack to create your own private catwalk show at home. so never mind the rain, put those new clothes on and strut your stuff!

every year i pop along to the issa show at london fashion week. and every
year i’m never left disappointed by the collection – or the amazing
celebrity turn out. i took my seat directly behind jodie kidd – who wears
glasses during the shows because her eyesight isn’t what it used to be. she
spent the show nattering away to pearl lowe – who had brought her youngest
daughter along. within spitting distance away from me was princess beatrice (bea to her friends) and boy toy dave clark, model poppy delevingne and alexandra burke.
the celebs didn’t leave disappointed, that’s for sure.

as well as some
amazing lbd’s you had a vast collection full of colour and funk. models
wore huge quiffs – some even opting for shades. one particular rubber
design would have suited lady gaga down to the ground. the simple lipstick
red
was definitely the colour that stood out on the catwalk – as well as
the show’s lead model alice dellal. she may be a shorty-pants in real life
but she sure can walk. she’s fierce looking on that runway!
i sat with my friend amanda sheppard who is dating bryan ferry – they’re
one of the best couples going on the showbiz scene. it is easy to see why
bryan gets so doughy eyed with amanda – she’s a real giggle.
next stop on the party trail was the warehouse event. basically it was more
of a telly crowd – and a bit less fashion. amanda lamb and zoe salmon
marched around the store trying to spend their 150 quid vouchers (only the
celebs were lucky enough to get them). mica paris had a handful of garments
and ran off to the dressing rooms frantically ready to try them on. tom
crane – aka mr sarah harding – span tunes on the decks whilst jenni
falconer and angelica bell sipped champers and caught up.
my third event of the night was a real treat.
alice temperley threw an
incredible bash to mark her latest collection. situated in the back of
selfridges alice made a kooky wonderland themed bash. the entrance was a
rabbit hole and you walked through a cloth laced tunnel (ie a rabbit proper
rabbit hole) where lots of ticking clocks rattled in the dark and out into
a black and white striped room where waiters served fruit punch, champers
and crazy canapes. clusters of wild mushrooms grew around the edge of the
room too! emilia fox was the first celeb to turn out at the bash where new
young pony club played a short set. oh, and alice dellal was spinning the
tunes beforehand. unfortunately it was one of those events that was just
too packed – the queue outside to go down the rabbit hole was out of
control. one thing the party planners should never do is make it less
exclusive. we want to know as guests that we are part of a lucky few. not
part of a great big stinking crowd! rumours floated around that courtney
love was going to turn out. but after over a week of on-the-trot partying
this was one mr showbiz that needed a teensy weensy bit of beauty sleep. so
i left for home before the hardcore party crew got into full swing! phew!
