some monday’s you need to have a chilled out song to ease you into the new week, however, today is not one of those monday. why? because i am feeling slightly hyperactive and i want to share this energy with you guys. one of the most energising songs i know is outkast‘s “b.o.b”, not only is it a very good representation of how i am feeling at the moment, but it is also a great frickin tune! you put it on and you cant help dancing away to it! oh and speaking of outkast, one of half of the hiphop duo, big boi, has recently released a new video and single which simply is off the hook. you wont be able to resist some serious head nodding to this song, let alone some chair dancing if you’re sitting down. proper summer tunage if you ask me and bit of new school outkast vibes to go with the somewhat old school song above. enjoy and have a great bank holiday monday!

as you are now aware, we love ourselves a bit street art! so this week, our blog love goes to one of our favourite blogs on the subject, art of the state.
two weekends ago, vitaminwater were lucky enough to scoot on down to brighton for the brilliant great escape festival. if you were there, you may have spotted our glaceau teams keeping the hungover hordes hydrated on the saturday! (i spotted this young lass frolicking on the beach with a spark bottle)
hello my friends! i hope you are in a jazzy kind of mood, because i am about to drop some pretty hardcore spaced out jazz on you today. and the best part is, all you need is a set of speakers or headphones to join in on the fun in this outer space jazz universe adventure, no spaceships or special space suits are required. (although if you do have any one of the two, i am pretty jealous!) the great talent that will be taking us on this magical trip is sun ra. now if you haven’t heard of sun ra you are missing out on some incredible music, but have no fear, the good news are that you can get back on track and indulge in some extra ordinary sounds by checking out this weeks sun ra special power-chart. to give you a bit of quick background knowledge, sun ra was many things, including a band leader, a composer (mainly jazz), a poet, a philosopher, as well as a piano and synthesizer player. he is definitely one of the most controversial jazz musicians in musical history, but also hailed for his phenomenal musical compositions and performances.
if you like what you hear, i would highly recommend checking out the black classical blog since they are doing very exciting sun ra specials in the coming two weeks including exclusive mixes and radio shows. as a teaser you can tune in to the strictly sun ra mix above.

this week the queen and other celebs got a peak at the legendary chelsea flower show, ahead of it’s public opening on friday.

you’re
obviously a trendy vitamin water drinker, what kind of music do you listen to? i am totally going through a folk music phase at
the moment so bob dylan, kate rusby, joni mitchell – but i also love so many
other styles of music from jazz, to punk to tango!
and now that
you are part of a pretty stylish crew, what’s your favourite brand / designer
to wear while drinking vitamin water
haha, if i had a money tree i would totally wear
alexander mcqueen or anna sui but as i do not, sadly, have a money tree -
anything unbranded that looks lovely!

and help people out of horrible and sticky situations!
we all like
to know our stuff, if you could be a connoisseur/guru/demi-god of something
what would it be? i would love to be a guru of….hmm, hard question.
maybe a guru of folklore so i could always tell inspiring and magical stories
at the drop of a hat??
with the
whole world obsessed with social networks, where do you hang out online – not
that we want to stalk you or anything
? facebook is still probably my network of choice,
and myspace to promote music-y stuff!
vitamin water
is newish to the uk, what is your favourite place here, where should we go and
hang out? i adore pembrokeshire – especially st david’s! it
is teeny but sooooo relaxing and beautiful!

oh mayn!! freddie gibbs – i can’t get enough of this guy. i think this guy is definitely one of the most exciting american emcees i have come across for a long time. his style and music takes me back to rap (hiphop?) music from when I was growing up, but he somehow still manages to keep the feeling of being fresh and not some lame copycat that most commercial us rappers come across in my opinion. (not that freddie gibbs is very commercial, but you get my point if you listen to his music)
actually, i could go on and on about this subject because it is something that is close to my heart, but I do realise that it is friday, the sun is shining, and you guys might not want to hear me ramble on about my annoyances with the music industry and hiphop in general when you could be outside playing. so let’s make it short & simple: you need freddie gibbs music in your life, so kick off the weekend with these free treats:
the miseducation of freddie gibbs
midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik
and one of my favorite tunes from this year: c.h.l.
