it’s friday, it’s england vs algeria, it’s weekend, it’s winterwell festival…so many reasons to be happy. and here is another one: cakehead loves evil. what. a. great. blog.

i really like it for a myriad of reasons…it’s pretty random, which means there is always something low on relevance, but high on entertainment. take this post about boys and snakes for instance.
she delivers doses of awesome all the time, and in ways you would not expect. a cake shaped like a synth? tick. seal winter woolies? tick. i could go on but i am sure you get the picture.
read it, tweet it, believe it.
have a good weekend guys! xx

hello my friends! hope you are all marvelous :) can’t believe it is already friday… i guess time flies when you are having fun and have good music to keep you going.

from experience i know that many people go out and do record shopping during the weekends, mostly because it is a process that can take a bit of time and requires a certain level of devotion and dedication (or maybe it’s just for a music freak like me and the rest of my music geek friends who enjoy digging for records and discovering new things, you tell me). either way, no matter what kind of music you prefer and in what format you like it in, one release that i personally feel that you simply have to get is the new flying lotus album cosmogramma released on warp. it is one of the best records i have heard so far this year and is definitely that is needed in your collection! for a taste, have a listen to one of the tracks, have (n) below:

if that is not enough to tickle your taste buds, have a look at the video below which explains the process and thought behind the work that has gone into making the absolutely magnificent and stunning album artwork:

and if i still haven’t convinced you to get cosmogramma, head over to juno and have a listen to the entire record, i can guarantee that it will take you on the most extraordinary musical journey.

with the spotlight shining brightly on south africa as it hosts the 2010 fifa world cup, superstar alicia keys launched her campaign to support her charitable organization keep a child alive (kca) with the help of glacéau vitaminwater. kca is dedicated to providing life-saving aids treatment, care and support services to children and families whose lives have been affected by hiv/aids in africa and india.

through its glacéaugood efforts, vitaminwater will be dedicating a large portion of its billboard presence in south africa to keep a child alive throughout the duration of the fifa world cup. high-profile football players sporting powerful messages star in the campaign, including: aaron mokoena, salomon kalou, jermain defoe, john paintsil, carlton cole, benik afobe and djibril cisse. go to the keep a child alive site to get involved.

when the sun is shining and you just want to lay about on a beach all day with your mates, the place that comes to mind is always ibiza. the centre of the tropical party paradise, it’s a virtual mecca during the summer.

thats probably why this season, we can see a very ibiza inspired look on the catwalks and streets!
so what essential pieces might you need? well here you go:
and to take you back a few years, listen to the track above, i had a good laugh when i saw that after all these years…

festival season is in full swing at the moment, there seems to be 3 or 4 different festivals every weekend! this weekend we will be at winterwell festival, it’s fancy dress day on saturday and the theme is roald dahl! on that basis the costumes should be a laugh at least ;)
during this week our v-teams have been hanging out at the big breach break festival in wales. they brought along a crew from wah nails who did the nail damage below! what do you think? have you any fashion surprise’s lined up for festival season?

mid week madness and i have some fresh ladies to lighten up your day and tighten up your game. continuing my all female charts that i started at the beginning of this month, today’s playlist is a bit of a mix of this, that and the other. it might seem rather random to the untrained naked eye, but oh no, this is a well thought through list that follows a very important and specific pattern (and i am going to stick to that explanation no matter what you say haha).
this week i simply tried to stick to female artists that i have been listening to during my youth, and obviously some that i think stand out in today’s music scene and deserves some attention. i have to admit, I did censor some acts in order to maintain some “credibility”, but in hindsight, maybe i should have gone all out as i’m sure i’m not the only one with embarrassing music memories. either way, you’ll find some old goodies on the list from the likes of mary j blige, tlc, kelis, aaliyah, as well as some recent artists ranging from current favourites andreya triana, nneka and stac, to ahu, kissey asplund and everything else in between. i am pretty sure i’ve forgotten and left out tonnes of others, so have a listen here and feel free to send in your suggestions!

Posh spice appears in Spongebob!

victoria beckham is joining a host of other celebrities to feature as a scantily clad mermaid in an upcoming spongebob squarepants episode. also in the show are john o’ hurley and sebastian bach, all taking on a role as a member of bikini bottom’s royal family.

beckham will play queen amphitrite, and is said to be over the moon about it. apparently the show is a firm favourite with the beckham boys, who couldn’t be prouder! ;)
the news first broke last year, but the episode is due to be released any day now…
what do you think of the role? do you think she is right for the role of a posh underwater mermaid queen? we think she will take to the part like a fish to water…

last week in la, famous items were auctioned off in a profiles of history auction. the main drawcard being the iconic pink dress that marilyn wore in “gentleman prefer blondes“, which sold for a whopping $213,000 (£144,500)!

for those of you who might not know, it’s the dress she wore when she sang “diamond’s are a girl’s best friend”
other items up for grabs included edward’s scissorhands and the wicked witch of the west hat worn in the wizard of oz.
but ultimately, it was the size 14, pink gown worn in 1953 by none other than the fabulous monroe which stole the show.
perhaps the high street will have an imitation up soon? ;)

the weekend already feels like a distant memory in the past, and you can’t seem to figure out where it all went so quickly. but fear not, if you need that extra boost to properly get into the new week and wipe away that awful monday blues, i have stumbled upon a great revival mix that is guaranteed to turn those frowns upside down. it is a 30 minutes mini mix made by edinburgh based dj and radio host overtime, and it features some killer sounds by some sassy female artists including kinny, lizzy parks and the queen of soul, aretha franklin. so time to get out of that grump and start shuffling those feet instead, you won’t be able to sit still to this one!

blogging about everything from design, magazines, artists, musicians and iphone apps, you are bound to find out something you never knew, or something that will make you infinitely cooler than you are.
big congrats to these guys, they work hard, and it seems to show, so follow them on twitter and read their blog. that is all.
