ah, the thrill of the new. we’re all in favour of keeping our ears to the ground, but not without major help from the exceptional blogs out there in big ol’ netland. this week, we’ve been reading great youth culture blog nobody dance no more, who likes to keep a sneaky eye out for the next big things in music, art, design, fashion, and even food!
these guy’s don’t beat around the bush either – their posts are concise and to the point, providing you with a nice chunk of what’s hot for your viewing pleasure! we’re especially loving this track by gold panda - so much so, that we may have just blasted it on the vitaminwater hq speakers more than once to set us in good spirits for the weekend, and we might just use it to perk us up on our monday revival!
trend or tragedy? well that answer lies in how, when, who and why. seeing that not everyone is as tall and graceful as mrs obama, this is not a trend for everyone. if high heels extend the body line and leg length, kitten heels have the opposite knack.
the pumpkins are carved, the sweet jars are stocked, and there is an eerie chill in the air… that’s right, halloween is once again upon us, and it seems that everyone (human or otherwise) are gladly getting into the spirit of things.
however, you can’t please everyone. this cat looks none too pleased about the witch costume picked for it, and doesn’t stick about when the opportunity comes to make a swift exit. unfortunately (as with many things in a cat’s daily grind), things don’t go exactly to plan – and well, we’ll let you see for yourself…
Winter got your lips as dry as straw? Drench, quench (did I just rhyme?) yourself to counter the barren dryness of the season. 5 products your beauty counter needs now:
1. Lip Balm – Give lips constant defense with a moisturizing lip salve. Chapped lips are never in trend!
2. Hand Moisturiser – Poor hands get the brunt of the cold, keep a good revitalizing moisturizer at bay to massage back to life
3. Face mask – Look for one that hydrates in a bid to renew skin
4. Leave- In- Conditioner – Switch to a deeply moisturizing conditioner. Your hair needs all the help it can get, go on, don’t be afraid
5. Liquids – No, not the shampoo, drink lots of fluids to hydrate the body from inside out
it’s cold and we’re finding it hard to think over the deafening sound of chattering teeth! so we decided to source some inspiration on our facebook page, and have come across a musical gem courtesy of our mate jim acres!
drum and bass connoisseurs dj fresh and sigma have teamed up on the track ‘lassitude’, which is the perfect accompaniment for working up a sweat to warm up these arctic monday mornings! we’re also loving the parkour inspired video, set within the unusual confines of a sleepy library, that is guaranteed to kick your week off with an almighty spark!
thanks again to jim for the much needed revival boost, and we’d love to hear more enlightenment from you if you fancy yourself as a bit of a music aficionado, so comment away!
in dire need of some speaker lovin’ to see you through the final few hours of the weekend countdown?
well thank the music gods for the mahogany blog, a brilliant cross-genre music blog curated by mark. searching through the murky depths of the music industry, he takes only the best offerings that do their genre justice and places them in the blog spotlight.
the mahogany blog isn’t simply your average music blog either. mark doesn’t stop at a blog feature when a true gem passes under his radar – he makes them prove their worth! the mahogany sessions are a series of intimate performances from an enviable line up of musical talent played especially for the blog, including acts such as let’s buy happiness and ok go. however, the stand out session for us stars everything everything, where they perform a flawless acoustic version of their track schoolin’, previously featured on our blog!
so make sure you check out the mahogany blog, and allow them to set your weekend in good stead!
bring on winter – we’re ready for you! the blistering cold, chapped lips, slippery pavements and extra layers are all things that we have learnt live with. however, there’s one great thing about the sunnier season that always leaves us with an empty feeling right about this time of year – the festivals.
and even though this video breaks our hearts just as much as it warms them, it is a must see for any bonafide festival lover! filmed at this years coachella festival in california, this video is filmed with tilt shift photography to create an awesome effect that captures the true energy of a music festival.
not to worry though… it’s only a mere eight months before festival season kicks off again! however, if that seems like an eternity away (we seem to think so), then check out our great competition to win tickets to the freeze festival in london!
ah, the essence of the modern gentleman. he is refined, oozes style and finesse, and a force to be reckoned with. a sartorial luminary, if you will.
having said this, a true gent falls short if he is without the definitive symbol of masculinity – the mighty mo. throughout the month of november, thousands of gents will be grooming a fine set of moustaches for the annual movember fundraising campaign. that’s right, for 30 days, men across the globe must promote the growth of, and ensure the ample maintenance of their very own mo.
however, these guys aren’t simply doing this in the name of frivolity. the movember campaign is all in support of the prostate cancer charity, the uk’s leading prostate cancer charity. prostate cancer is currently the most common cancer in men with around 36,000 men diagnosed every year, and one man dies from the disease every four minutes. movember does a great job of raising significant awareness around the disease and generating much needed funds for the respective charities.
it couldn’t be easier for you to get involved, and you’ll be helping out heaps with raising awareness of prostate cancer. simply sign up at http://uk.movember.com/register, start clean shaven on the 1st of november, tell everyone you know about the campaign, and let the mo-good-times roll from there!
and don’t worry if you’re mo-challenged, a few of us here at vitaminwater hq also fall a bit short in the facial hair department, but we’re not letting that hold us back! we’ll be trying everything during the month of movember to grow a mo to be proud of, so be sure to check out the blog to follow our progress!
vitaminwater is proud to be supporting such a worthy cause, and we’re definitely going to get stuck into the movember festivities! so watch this space for more movember happenings!
you might have noticed a slight chill in the air, but did you know a freeze is about to roll into town?
whoa, whoa, slow your role… there’s no need to pack your bags for warmer climes! this isn’t a warning about an imminent ice age, we’re talking about something a thousand times more exciting – the relentless freeze festival 2010!
that’s right, three days of snowboard, ski and music mayhem will once again take over london’s battersea power station on the 29th of october, with festivities promising to top previous years. adrenaline hungry revellers are in for a real treat, as the worlds best skiers and snowboarders take centre stage, around the focal point of a 32m high, 100m long real snow jump.
