iceskating.jpg

I think it is so fun that everyone has their own holiday traditions. What are yours? These are some of mine.

Ice-skating – Although I spend more time falling then skating on the ice, I go every winter. Is it just me or is it super festive to rug up in the warmest furry coat you can get you hands on and hit the ice? The question is, is it best for twosome or group?

Holiday music - Are you a carols or classy Christmas concert sort of person? Get in on the action now. If you are sick of the same old xmas songs, what is on your holiday soundtrack?

Late night shopping - A great perk to the season, is the extended shopping hours.Have you been making use of them? What Christmas gifts have you bought yet?

Seasonal Fairs -  Have you ever been to a festive fair? You know the like, the cheery atmosphere and seasonal food and novelty gifts on sale. Grab a date, or a friend or three, wrap up warm and stop by your local fair.

Tree decorating -  What are your favourite xmas decorations? I like a mix of the old and new. Vintage glass baubles look amazing set against DIY pieces. I like to throw a tree decorating party where each guest brings a piece for the tree. It makes for an interesting, personalised mix.

What are your favoured holiday pastimes?

mother nature seems to have gone off on one this weekend, catching most of us off guard and forcing many into an unplanned hibernation for a bit of winter warming! however, all good things come to an end, and we all shed a bit of a tear this morning as the brash alarm marked the end of cosy weekend duvet time.

luckily for us, we had the warming harmonies from folk duo first aid kit to look forward to after braving the cold! hailing from sweden with a great earthy sound, this acoustic performance of their stunning track ‘our own pretty ways’ is enough to warm the cockles no matter how far the temperature decides to drop.

a must hear if you’re feeling the bite from the chill today, or even better, save it for that magical moment when you climb back into that snuggly duvet!

day 26 and the mo growth is stepping up thick and fast.

the vitaminwater crew have been caught a bit off guard with this sudden bout of mo-gress and don’t quite know how to act. with a great mo comes great responsibility, so we’re in the process of schooling ourselves in proper moustache bearing etiquette – here is our dummies guide…

refined palette - a proper mo gent has a taste for the finer things in life – we’re talking afternoon tea with pinkies out and regular moustache grooming. consider anything less than worthy as an insult – it’s your mo right.

body is a temple - eat well, sleep at the right times, and be sure to book yourself in for a little rest & relaxation once in a while. take heed of this, because mo’s need to wind down too!

enunciate - a notable leader must be heard and understood to commandeer he utmost respect. so slow down, exaggerate the mouth movements, avoid the slurs – and for mo’s sake, don’t speak with your mouth full. (note – this should go without saying, but queens english please)

posture - back straight, chest out, gut in, chin up. four simple rules to ensure that the presence of your mo is known and revered by everyone you meet.

use the mo power for good – that’s right, keep that door open for the person behind you, give up that comfy seat on the packed train, carry that shopping for the old lady on the street, and watch the mo man points come rolling in!

feel free to use this as a guideline – and don’t forget to support each other on this long road to becoming distinguished gents!

and now the moment you’ve all been waiting for… week 4 mo-gress!

ok so for the moment you’ve really been waiting for, the results of this week’s ‘show us your mo’ competition! you guys have really brought out the big guns for the final week and we’ve had a pretty tough time racking our brains to find our winners… but we got there in the end (phew!) and here we present the six final mo-tastic winners!

@jamieSalvage http://bit.ly/enHTde

we’re almost at the time to bid farewell to our beloved movember, but not before we announce the grand final winner of the ‘show us your mo’ competition! on monday, all of our previous winners will have the opportunity to replace their creative photo, or keep their existing one – for the grand final prize to win a months supply of vitaminwater!

keep your eyes peeled for our last movember post and the grand final winner to be announced this wednesday!

car tyres pile 03.jpg

With the cold weather upon us we’ve been looking for ways to rug up and the puffa jacket sprang to mind. However, I think the name tells you everything. Anything that similar to the words ‘puff’,'puffy’ etc cannot be destined to go anywhere but downhill.

If you are going to wear it, I suggest keeping the puffa piece as streamlined and minimally cut (if it is bulky and full length run in opposite direction!) as possible. After all you do not want to end up looking like the Michelin man. There is nothing remotely trendy about that over inflated stack of tyres look!

What do you think of the puffa jacket? Do you think if you’re as-snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug it doesn’t matter how you look on the outside, or is it just a no no, no matter how cold it is?

lets hear your thoughts!

first came the lightbulb.

then came television, sliced bread, computers, internet, blu-ray – i could go on but i’m beginning to bore myself.

the list is quite literally endless, and the innovations achieved by mankind are nothing short of amazing. hence why it’s no surprise that this new one is causing a bit of a stir between young and old alike.

allow me to introduce you to, the revolutionary, awe inspiring, life changing…

stretchy webcam effect!

ok, so perhaps i went a little bit overboard on the hype, but the fact still stands that the photobooth stretch is bringing hours of fun to millions across the globe. watch this hilarious video as we see this troublesome twosome get to grips with this quirky effect!

end-of-year-calendar.jpg

2010 is almost done and dusted, if like me you are scratching your head on what you spent it doing, why not make a resolution to try the below to make up for it? this week i’m steering a little away from fashion to bring you my top resolution tips!

1. Road Trip Pack your car with some mates, a map, a pack of Vitaminwater (you would not want to get dehydrated) and drive into the middle of no mans land.  Adventures are fun.

2. Dessert for breakfast
Just because you can!

3. Switch everything off for a weekend
Phone, i-Pad, laptop etc, its time to switch it off for a weekend with no interruptions and you time.

4. Donate an hour of your time Give an hour of your time to that charity shop you cant stop rummaging in. Giving never goes out of style

5. Make your own fun to do list Now it is time to add your own ideas to the ‘things to do before 2011 list. Get going, 2011 is just around the corner!

the daily routine has never sounded this good.

watch as upcoming talent tinashé performs a stunning acoustic version of his track ‘pieces of paper’. taking a comfy seat on his local park bench armed with nothing but a guitar, he couldn’t have chosen a more perfect location for this beautiful and chilled video – a perfect way to revive any weary souls resting tired heads after the raucous weekend activities!

this song was made for monday mornings – so kick back, relax, and let tinashe set your week (and weekend recovery) in good stead!

day 19.

the itch has set in and we’re not a happy bunch.

it’s hard to hear over the incessant scratching, and our poor tashes are bearing the brunt of the damage. we’re in need of some relief, so we’ve turned to the ever reliable interwebs for tips on getting through this rather tough time.

moisturise, moisturise, moisturise - taking inspiration from the most well groomed mo bro you know, it can’t hurt to treat your mo to a bit of lasting hydration. don’t go cheap on the product either, your mo deserves only the very best.

give it some mirror time - staring at your illustrious mo in the mirror and realising how dashing and manly you look, will be more than enough motivation to see you through the itch.

bath regularly - we’re not talking about your body in general (that can wait!), we’re talking about a relaxing mo bath. that’s right, grab yourself a bowl of hot soapy water and give your mo a bit of a dip now and again. be warned however, this might be one for the privacy of your own home – and don’t forget to come up for air!

comb, don’t scratch - refined gentlemen wouldn’t be caught dead laying into their mo’s with their fingertips, so grab yourself a limited edition movember comb from kent. great for those times when the itch won’t pass, and you still need to save face.

carpet loving - if all else fails, and there’s nothing that will make you feel better other than itch, rubbing your face vigorously on your carpet will give you the itch relief amplified by 1000. approach this one as a last ditch effort though, as carpet burn is never a good look.

in the growth department, some of us have obviously fared better than others (i am all but a patchy mo man) – check out our mo-gress below!

who says bass filled goodness can’t come in small yellow packages? we certainly don’t.

and we’re pretty certain that we are not a rockband would agree. their blog knows all things electro, drum & bass, and dubstep – performing the essential public service of delivering the most talented new artists, the freshest new videos, and essential weekly events to your doorstep (or computer screen, even).

these guys also aren’t afraid to get up close and personal with genre heavyweights, interviewing acts such as boys noise, a-trak, and disco of doom. also keep a regular sneaky eye on their updates, as they provide the heads up on the latest mixes such as this corker from bassnectar

it must be a tough life, mixing with the cream of the world’s cutting edge music acts – but someone’s gotta do it, and we think they’re doing a darn good job of it so far!

as always, if you’re on twitter – follow them here!

til next week’s blog love… happy listening!

ah, man’s best friend – that furry four legged pal who is always there for a bit of added support when the stresses of human life becomes all too much.

taking that notion to the extreme, this fearless (and house proud) canine sidekick has devoted itself to its owners beck and call, answering to their every whim. handling chores in a way that puts even domestic goddesses kim and aggy to shame, this mutt proves he is so much more than your average ‘pet’.

“where can i find me a pup like that?” i hear you cry. well training such a diligent, obedient (and, if you ask us, slightly too eager!) pet like the useful dog here won’t happen overnight, so stock up on those doggy treats – you’re gonna need them…
