happy new year everyone!

pom pom.jpg

i do not know about you but i never know what to feel about pom poms?

is it just me or do they have a habit of looking adorable one minute and like offending giant moth balls the next?!

talking about their cute factor, maybe they should come with a ‘has a tendency to make mutton look like it is dressed as lamb‘ warning

the tragedy with the pom pom is you never know whether to powder your face with it like an oversized puff or yank it off like an over grown piece of fluff.

uh oh. it’s not been a great season for the cat community.

starting with this cat taking a rather unexpected leap of faith, their highly regarded status has found itself compromised with the emergence of bottle cat – and now reflection cat…

to be fair, this cat has her defensive feline instincts in the right place – agility, speed and perceptiveness. however, unfortunately for her, she misses one crucial trick… the cat she is trying to defend herself from is – herself. (in reflective form that is)

nonetheless, there is a silver lining in the midst of all this debacle, as the ton of extra entertainment only heightens our endearment for these loveable animals!

so on behalf of vitaminwater hq and humankind… cat community, we thank you!

this week’s express delivery of blog love is scheduled for nerdbanite‘s doorstep, a great youth culture blog who have taken it upon themselves to report on the latest movements in the art, music and style spheres.

and we couldn’t be more grateful – as they’ve very kindly given us the heads up on some of the capital’s coolest events, be it the latest club nights, right through to those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it sample sales!

these guys also take their music very seriously, and have interviewed their fair share of rising stars from the dubstep and d&b scenes – including 2000f and mantra.

so the next time you’re in need of a bit of urban inspiration, be sure to take note of nerdbanite’s trusty recommendations!

if you’re on twitter, be sure to follow them too!

designers have managed to rewind time and come summer we will be living in the 1970′s again. well clothes wise at least.

when you hear 70′s inspired fashion, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? for me it is jersey maxi gowns, studio 54 and strappy platforms.

come summer there is a lot of that and more; wide leg pants, knit prints, jewel colours, exotic influences, glamour etc

if you are worrying about looking like a character out of a 70′s TV show, moderation is key.

go easy on proportions as well or it will be less 2011 and more swinging bell bottoms circa 1971.

i am really looking forward to this trend, you?

brace yourselves for this one – this is one heck of a cute baby panda overload!

and your mission should you dare to press play… is to show these guys that we won’t simply succumb to their looks alone! yes that’s right, we challenge you to try and watch the troublesome twosome without so much as a swoon, gasp – or even the customary “ahhh”.

it’s a tough ask, but someone’s got to do it. vitaminwater hq haven’t fared so well on that part (most of us are still locked into a goody eyed daze) but we have the utmost faith in you!

so arm yourself with your steeliest stare, and show those cute pandas who’s boss! (or failing that, we won’t hold it against you if you decide to swoon your way right through to the new year!)

it’s monday again, and we’ve jumped face first into the dreaded sniffle season! most of the vitaminwater hq have come down with something or another, and we’re slowly getting used to a melodic symphony of coughs and groans.

but feeling under the weather does not mean it’s the end of the world, and it has a funny little way of making stunning tracks like this one sound even better. isobel campbell & willy mason perform a beautifully sombre version of townes van zandt‘s ‘no place to fall’, and all of it’s folky acoustic goodness seems to have done us the world of good in helping to combat the winter blues.

so whether you’re duvet bound with a weary head or simply taking a well deserved cold monday off, snuggle up and let these guys set your road to recovery in good stead!

friday rolls around again, and we’ve got a lotta love to go round! but in particular, we’re sending a ton of it over to fashion bake, written by jessica whose fashion sense has left us somewhat weak at the knees!

she’s got rock chic down to a tee, and her eccentric sense of style ensures she never gets the ‘same-outfit-as-everyone-else’ fear! she’s also a girl after our own hearts with a penchant for d.i.y, and we can’t help but love her self customised denim jacket!

she can also take a mean photo, spot the hottest new tunes, and can be found at some pretty cool shindigs – making this one a must read!

if you’re on twitter, be sure to follow her too!

happy friday!

velvet has a way of being both brilliant and ghastly. do you remember those velvet dresses and skirts we all wore in the nineties?

it was either ditsy in mood like phoebe from friends, or a poster for grunge. which did you?

many won’t touch velvet with a barge pole. but what exactly did it do again to deserve such a bad rep?

well with the resurgence of the velvet trend, it is all over catwalks and falling off hangers on the high street.

whether you look tragic or trendy depends on the velvet piece and how you wear it. How will you be wearing this trend?

following last week’s feline debacle, the cat community have enlisted one of the big guns to restore their once prestigious name. we’re actually quite privileged to be hosting this one, as apparently he’s quite a big deal…

he is sophisticated,

he is a maverick,

he takes everything in his stride,

a true aristo-cat.

yes ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to winston the cat…

and if you’re on twitter, don’t forget to follow him too!
